How can you and your team stand apart from your competitors in 2010? Look at the presence you present. Say you drove a Mercedes. Very impressive. However, if that Mercedes is dirty, dented, and the paint is fading, it might as well be a junker. Picture your team out in the marketplace, be it real or virtual.
• Look at their packaging. Business attire is back in style and making a statement about the caliber of your employees. The “just rolled out of bed look” commands little confidence in a competitive environment.
• Look at their presentation. Is your elevator speech current, effective and targeted to the potential client? Are you and your team articulating . . . or mumbling?
• Look at their presence. You and your team should radiate physical comfort. Stand tall, place and move your hands appropriately, use fluid body language, and display confidence when shaking hands
As recovery begins to flow back to the economy, will your company be a leader in your field? Analyze your and your team's communications style and what is being conveyed. Remember, people do business with vendors they perceive as being able to respond to their needs. It may be time to discuss an Executive Presence training overhaul in 2010.
