Counter Chatter With More Concise Internal Communications

Find yourself constructing mental ejector seats as conference calls, meetings and employees drone on and on?

Change the culture. Over the next three weeks (the time it takes to create a new habit), encourage staff to:

  • Establish an agenda prior to any conversation and stay on focus.

  • Present the most important points first.

  • State the message concisely and then stop talking.

  • Run clock on conference calls and meetings.

  • Use verbal clues such as "Got it" when the message is received and understood.  This signals the speaker that no additional explanation is needed.  (When everyone uses the same term, no one is insulted.)

"Time is money" in any professional environment. Start saving now.
