Video Resumes --The Wave of the Present

Obsessing about the beautiful font, luxurious paper and chronological order of your printed resume?  Add your "on-camera" ability to that list. Video resumes are becoming the differentiator in opening doors.  In fact, polls show:

  • 89 percent of employers have said they would view a video resume.
  • CareerBuilder, a leading Internet employment site, will offer video resumes by June.
  • Job candidates gain the edge when their "actions speak louder than words."

If your "on-camera" experience is limited to waving at the handicam, here are a few important tips:

  • Keep it short: Three minutes is optimum or the employer will hit "Stop."
  • Know your audience: Tailor your video to your target industry.
  • Talk to me: Don't read. This is your opportunity to establish a relationship.

If you can't present "likable and expert" to the camera, click!
