MicMastery

Addressing a large audience is frightening enough.  Add a microphone and that fear becomes overwhelming.  To master your fear, take control of the situation.

  • Arrive early so the technician can modulate your speaking level at the mic to a comfortable decibel.
  • Practice a few sentences with the mic on so you aren't taken aback by the sound of your enhanced voice.
  • Grasp a hand mic at the handle with a firm grip and hold it a few inches away from your mouth so sounds don't "pop."
  • Stand straight at a lectern mic.  Bend over and you look distorted...like so many Academy Award presenters who should know better.
  • Position a "lav" mic out of chin grazing distance, but close enough to pick up your voice when you turn your head.

Adeptness with a microphone demonstrates your confidence as a speaker, and amplifies your professionalism to new heights.

This micmastery is brought to you by Executive Speak/Write, oral and written communications trainers who want to ensure your communications are relationship-driven.
